Today wasn't a bad day but I'd been feeling a bit teary - yesterday as well (my mom's birthday is coming up so I'm sure that is part of the reason for my sadness). Even when trying to take the photos for 365, the emotion of sadness appeared in front of the mask I tried to portray but thanks to music . . . the joy came alive inside of my heart and soul. Thank God for music . . .
What was I listening to, a medley of things but mostly ( on repeat):
Hold On, Help is on the Way -- Whitney Houston
Sanctuary of Joy -- HKB FiNN
Golden -- Jill Scott
I Love The Lord -- Whitney Houston
Looking For You - Kirk Franklin

Forming a peerless triumvirate of talent with composer Burt Bacharach and lyricist Hal David, between 1962 and 1971, Dionne Warwick reeled off a dizzying string of mini-masterpieces of pop and soul: "Walk on By." "I Say a Little Prayer." "Anyone Who Had a Heart." "Don't Make Me Over." They're all drop dead gorgeous. Of course, Warwick's long, illustrious career goes far beyond those legendary 1960's hits; after a distressing dry spell, she rebounded in 1979 with the classic, Grammy-winning "I'll Never Love This Way Again." Warwick stayed highly visible throughout the first half of the 1980's, thanks to her stint as host of TV's "Solid Gold," and her 1985 mega-hit, "That's What Friends are For" (recorded to benefit AmFAR). Then...another dry spell. But you can never count a legendary diva out, and Warwick continues to pop up on television and the concert trail. And, of course, those immortal Bacharach/David collaborations will last eternally...

One thing everyone can agree on: love her or loathe her, everyone has an opinion about Diana Ross! Arguably the most successful female artist of our time, La Ross is revered and reviled, but all that hoopla obscures her undeniable achievements and talents. With a vast catalog of some of the most enduring hits of all-time, a fiercely devoted following, and an almost unchallenged right to the title of "The Ultimate Diva," this glamorous, temperamental, unpredictable, fascinating, legendary megastar is one of the last of the True Greats. Feted in 2007 at the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors, Miss Ross is also the recipient of a Golden Globe for her 1972 film debut, "Lady Sings the Blues," and a special Tony Award for her "An Evening with Diana Ross" show at The Palace Theater. As an original member of The Supremes, Diana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. She has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame--one for herself, and one as a Supreme. Named "Female Entertainer of the Century" by Billboard magazine and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Most Successful Female Artist, Diana Ross has never won a Grammy!
